During the night a minor earthquake swarm took place on two parts of the Tjörnes Fracture Zone. The first earthquake swarm was just 19,9 km north-east of Siglufjörður village. Largest earthquake in that swarm had a magnitude of 3,1.

    Magmatic activity, wind or jökulhlaup?

It’s been a while since anything worth noting about Katla.

    • There is really bad weather in this are at the moment. But it doesn’t look like a bad weather at the moment. Only activity in Katla volcano was a minor earthquake swarm few days ago and since then there has been no activity.

Interesting series of deeper quakes in the area:

Any significance to depths going below 20km? At that depth there’s more likely to be a magmatic component…?
