Facebook continues to allow violence videos

Facebook continues to allow violence videos on its website. At the same time it is banning something harmless as nudity on it, with a full force. Earlier I reported a video showing a women in hands of Al Qaeda or the fundamental extremist of ISIS (or what they are calling them self today). Daily Mail has news on this video and it can be read here (Warning! The video can be seen on Daily Mail website. I do not know if it is the full or edited version!). This video has been removed from YouTube where it first appeared (I think). The story with Facebook is different, they refused to remove this video and claimed it didn’t break any rules. The shameful excuse of claim can be read here.

Facebook.report.system.24.02.2015

This is shameful behaviour of Facebook and goes to show that they are not taking there responsibilities as social network seriously. For this I suggest a fine of no less then 300 million euros by the law authorities in Europe and U.S.

Update

Video of women being executed by terrorists doesn’t violate Facebook Community standards.

Facebook.report.system.24.02.2015

Violence is no problem at Facebook, in fact, they don’t give a shit. Only nudity and human kindness is (that is removed right away).

Facebook is spamming your inbox

Over the past few weeks I have noticed that I get occasionally an email from Facebook that I did not ask for. This note-faction come from pages that I have not liked at all and I am never going to do so. I have also never subscripted to this pages outside Facebook.

facebook.spam.22-October-2013
This is Facebook spam in my email. I have never liked this page and reporting it as spam seems to be useless effort.

The thing about this email, that I did not ask about is the fact that this is paid advertising and nothing else. Facebook does not seem to care that it is spamming its users with this crap. Since this is nothing else and it is also an bullshit.

facebook.spam.22-October-2013.not.liked
As can be seen here I have not liked this page and I am not going to do so.

This new ways of Facebook to do business means only one thing. The end is near for Facebook and they know it, they are maybe good for next 5 to 10 years if they are lucky. This has already started with Facebook loosing users and activity. As has been explained in news like this one here. As for the Facebook page system, it broken and is aimed to be a pay for view type of system as explained in this news here.

For my pages on Facebook, I refuse to pay for them (even if I had money to do so) since I refuse to spam people accounts.

The negative effects of Facebook

I have now, at 02:00 UTC put my Facebook account on deletion schedule in about 14 days. The reason is simple. I find that rules of Facebook to be working against me. In my case is that I want to meet new people. Facebook strictly (by there own rules) does not allow this. Since Facebook is meant for existing social contacts. As such, it is not tool to find new friends and new contacts. The thing with me is that I like trying to make new friends when I feel that is possible.

I am in no way new on Facebook. I started my Facebook account back in the year 2007. That is good 6 years active on Facebook. That is a really long time for being on a social network. During this time the mood on Facebook has changed. It was nice at first, mostly because Facebook was new at the time and people used it to connected to new people or long lost friends (at the time). Now it is not. It has turned into something else. I do not have the word for it. I did try and make new friends on Facebook. But recent changes in Facebook means that is now impossible. I did make new friends on Facebook that I now hold quite dear, even if I have never met them in person yet (working on doing so. But it is going to take a while due to me being poor and the travel costs are high).

There is also other aspect of the Facebook that I had not considered properly. Being always connected to people can be bad, in fact. It can be worse then being stuck with people all the time. We all need a break from each other on regular basis. Facebook in theory (as intended to work) does not allow for that option. It also „adds“ new social obligations to people. That they might be inclined to follow for a short period of time, until they start to ignore them completely. This has happened. Something else is also happening. People are moving away from Facebook. They have as I have descried here. Discovered the negative effects of Facebook and do not want any part of it. So they delete there account and never look back.

I am never going to return to Facebook. At least I do not expect to change my opinion on it due to this discovery of mine. I do not like this negative effects of Facebook on relations between people. It is damaging and often this damage is permanent and in worst cases cannot be repaired at all. I am not going to leave the social media just yet. I am still going to be on Twitter and Google+ for now. There is also one thing about too much information. It is damaging and unhealthy in my view and that is what Facebook does. It gives people unhealthy amount of information about other people. This breaks down relations between people and has damaging effects on the social structure in the long run. That is just my view. I have no data to support this, so this is not scientific claim.

Why Facebook is the biggest pile of crap ever invented

You know what Facebook is? A social network where you cannot meet new people. I am not joking. They say so them there self right here.

facebook.fuck.you

Facebook. Where you cannot meet new people at all! For a social network. That is not social at all.

Not only did they force log me out of my account when they did this. They also forced me to cancel my outstanding friend requests with the threat of blocking or delete my account. But you know what Facebook also does not. Provide you any way to keep track of friend request. If a friend request is not answered. I assume it has been deleted. I have no way to know if it just in place with people that I have send friend request too. That is because Facebook does not tell me what friend requests I have sent out. In fact, if I forget I have no way of knowing at all.

facebook.fuck.you.2

Facebook forced me to cancel my friend requests with the threat of blocking or deleting my account on Facebook. I am going to take the effort off there hands. In two days time (20th of April). I am going to be off Facebook for good. Since I am not going to accept this type of crap from a company that claims to be running a social network. But in fact is in it self is so anti-social it forbids you to meet new people online. In two days time. I am just going to stick with Google+ and Twitter. I do not accept this crap as I say from Facebook. It is unethical and in fact Facebook is choosing my friends for me. This is nothing else and is never going to be anything else.

Bye Facebook! I am not going to miss you since you started to behave like an asshole.

Why I am leaving Facebook for good

I am leaving Facebook for good. The reasons are not complicated. I find the timeline feature annoying. Then there are Facebook apps, self-promotions and award games that are plastering my newsfeed like a bad case of pop-up infestation by an malware. Along with people that have turned into narcissist, as that is what Facebook allows them to do. I also find Facebook lack of respect for privacy of people disturbing.

There is also an illusion of connectivity on Facebook when it comes to people. Sure. There are people on my Facebook list that I do keep in contact with. I even call them regularly. But how many people are that. A bit less in then 10 people in my case. The rest I had contact with. But I do not today. The Facebook would allow me to keep in contact with them. If they where them self interested in doing so. In most cases, that is not the case. It is also an issue on Facebook that today there are no friends list. As once where on Facebook. But with that it allowed you to group people in accordance to how well you knew them. Today it is just one friend list. I am going to loose contact with some people. Sure. But I am not sure that I was in any serious contact with them to start with. But those who want to keep in contact with me can do so without any problems at all. I have sent directions to them with Facebook. As Facebook is not the only way to keep in contact with people. There is email. But there is also Google+ and Twitter for instance that can be used to keep in contact with people. There is also email to keep in contact with people.

So there it is. Why I am leaving Facebook for the above reasons. But I am not leaving social media as such. I am just leaving Facebook. I am going to remain active on Google+ and Twitter. As I like the approach the Google+ and Twitter gives people how want to watch see what I am writing. Without actually having to be my friend as is the case on Facebook (the subscribe option fixed that a bit on Facebook. But it is and always is going to be limited solution to this issue).

I also left MySpace for similar reasons at the time. I did test once or twice to restart an account there. But I did delete them soon again. There was no point and MySpace had not change into anything useful for to communicate to people. I am however not expecting Google+ or Twitter to be such a place. I regard that an place that I can share my writing with anyone how has interest in reading what I have to say. I have been Facebook users since the early days. But I did create my Facebook account in the year 2007, on 26 of March that year (Facebook did not forget this). Many people find it „wrong“ that I am leaving Facebook. Since it is used to keep in contact with other people. It also seems to be the clues that Facebook is making us more lonely (The Atlantic: Is Facebook Making Us Lonely?). But being alone is something that I have a lot of experience in and I do not recommend it.

My Google+ account can be found here. My Twitter account can be found here.

Facebook filter bubble, part 1

I have had it with Facebook filter bubble. If I see a picture that I see the need to comment on. I am going to try and do so. But the most chance is that I am going to be meat with this type of announcement from Facebook. This is something that I have covered before on this blog. But Facebook has just become it’s own worst enemy. I do not know for how long this type of behavior is going to work for Facebook. But the time period for that cannot be long when it comes down to it.

Facebook filter bubble in full action.

My comment was not spam. I just pointed the crazy vegetarian that human body needs it’s proteins that come with eating meat, fish. I also pointed out that human beings, by nature are omnivorous. Not vegetarian only. But based on Facebook algorithms. Since my comment was of opposing point, it was classified as spam. What is more. Facebook threatens to disable my ability to comment permanently if I post my comment on this image. It is my solid believe that Facebook is going to go under in the next few years. You know why ? Because Facebook is censoring it’s using by claiming comment being spam if they disagree with the posters point of view. Whatever that might be. This is no way to treat users. The trend has already started. But Facebook started losing users two years ago. I doubt that Facebook is going to stop losing users any time soon.

But while I am on Facebook. I am going to document Facebook „spam filter“ in action.

Why Facebook is broken and going broke

If you ever wondered why Facebook stock is going down. It might be down to the fact Facebook behavior to it’s users is like the behavior of the guy how did create it towards people, like a asshole (according to the movie Social Network). It behaves towards it’s users in the same manners more or less. So when you get odd messages like this one from Facebook, remember. The guy how founded Facebook is most likely an asshole. Behind shady set of rules on Facebook. It is clear that Facebook is the most un-user friendly social web page out there. Not only limits it’s friend possibly to 5000 friends. But it also treats it’s users as they are all idiots who do not know what they are doing.

That includes messages like this from Facebook when posting on public statues. You also get similar message when you add some people on Facebook and you do not share any friends with them at all. Both of these can get one suspended off Facebook permanently. Facebook staff also do not have to give you any reason to suspend you. The idea that Facebook users have any say what happens there is just an illusion at best. Total lie at worst. I am going with the second option.

Picture of Facebook messages. This picture is released under Creative Commons Licence.

My best advice is that people backup there Facebook profiles. As one day they might find them self suspended or banned off Facebook. With no way to return back to Facebook.

Why Facebook is going to fail in few years

Sometimes on the internet I see an person that I want to know better. Most of the time today this happens on Facebook, sometimes on MySpace (but I don’t go there often, too confusing interface that they have). But there is an problem with my way of meeting new people online. That problem is Facebook and there way of controlling what people I want to befriend on Facebook. Because soon as you start to send friend requests to people how you have no common friend with. You get an threat like this.

I find this quite unfriendly of Facebook to threaten this. As the number of friend request to total strangers are less then 10 pr month for me.

This is also the reason why Facebook is going to fail in about 5 to 10 years time. This is given that Facebook behaviour is not going to change in that. But I currently doubt that, as the founder of an company normally set it’s principal it works on.

In the case of Facebook it the principle of greed and control that rule the day on Facebook. It is not about connecting people as it is set by Mark Zuckerberg and the other people (wiki) how did start Facebook.

The fact is simple. Facebook is quite unfriendly web site, even if it claims to be an web site to meet friends and meet new people. As Facebook is making sure that you don’t meet new people. Because when you try to do so, they claim that you are spamming and threaten to block your ability to become friends with new people on Facebook.

When something better then Facebook appears on the internet. It is going to replace it. As Facebook replaced MySpace and MySpace did replace the social web site before it. It is an old and well known history.

The security shame of Facebook

It is clear that Facebook is having a problem that they don’t want to talk about. The problem is hacking activity and the inability of Facebook to help users recover there accounts that have been hacked. The hacker in question changes the user name to „Hujan Kemarin“. But it does not stop there. He also changes the email address on the user in question, along with password and other information if he needs to.

This is obviously a problem for both users and Facebook. But the issue does not just end there. The issue is also that Facebook does not provide a users the tools or the way to recover there Facebook accounts. But the current solution that Facebook provides is compleatly useless in recovering the hacked account.

Here is the standard email that they send out to people dealing with this issue.

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to submit a report. We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues logging in to the site. Unfortunately, we are unable to respond to every email at this time, but we are reading your reports. Please view the following information to help you find your account and try resetting your password again. Be sure to try every option if you haven’t already done so.

1. Ask one of your Facebook friends to view your profile and send you the email address listed on your account. To do this, ask your friend to click on the „Info“ tab on your Profile page and scroll down to „Contact Information.“

2. In option 1, try entering every email address that you have ever owned (one email address at a time). You may have added an email address to your account and forgotten it.

3. In option 1, try entering your current mobile number and all of your past mobile numbers (one number at a time).

4. In option 2, try entering your username. A username is your personalized Facebook URL (web address) and appears in the location bar of your browser after „http://www.facebook.com/“ when you view your profile. If you don’t know your username, you can have a Facebook friend view your profile and tell you what your username is.

5. In option 3, try a variety of names. For the „Your name“ section, try entering variations for your name. You may have signed up for a nickname and forgotten about it. You should also try a variety of friends if the first friend you enter doesn’t locate an account.

Thanks for contacting Facebook, The Facebook Team

The word for this in the simple term is quite simple. They do not care about this issue and choose to do nothing about it.

The question on how the accounts are compromised is simple. The method here is quite simple. The hacker or the hackers use a exploit in Internet Explorer (version 8 and older) to gain access to the victims computer and steal the passwords from there. But the worst part of this story is the fact that Facebook does nothing for the users how get there account hacked. As Facebook does not have any tools for the users to regain access to that account again and reclaim it from the hacker. So the accounts in question remains in the hackers hands and they are free to exploit the information in those users accounts for there own gain.

A example of hacked Facebook accounts. They are in the numbers of hundreds far as I can see.

I might be hoping for too much to expect that Facebook might fix this issue and recover peoples Facebook accounts that have been hacked by this hacker or group of hackers.

Nema þá að Facebook ákveði að eyða mér út, eða setja mig í tímabundið bann fyrir að adda of mörgum nýjum vinum inná Facebook aðganginn minn samkvæmt þeirra eigin skoðun.
