  1. Impressive live stream! Younger warmer lava is finally spewing out after weeks of colder slowing lava spewing out, maybe we will see flows reaching the ocean soon if it continues at this magnitude?

    • Depends of of the location of this eruption fissure. I am not sure exactly where it is location in the rift zone in Hawaii. Based on the earthquake activity I am seeing on EMSC website it would not surprise me if new vents opened up elsewhere and started erupting like this one.

Impressive! Mother Nature never ceases to amaze me..

“The outstretched tongue of Kali distinguishes her from all other gods and goddesses of the Hindu pantheon. … Kali’s tongue here is a weapon, to be feared, a reminder that nature ultimately consumes all life. … In Kali temples, the tongue is smeared with the blood of sacrificed animals — a reminder that Mother Nature is — ‘red in tooth and claw’, giving life as well as taking life. We may domesticate her, transform her into the demure Gauri, clothed and coy, but she will always stick out her tongue and slurp on our blood.”

  3. I have updated the article with the new live video feed.

  4. It is now offline again.

  5. There is a troll in the donation article demanding that I should not ask for donations because I also get a social welfare (fixed income) from Iceland. Explaining why doesn’t work and his claimed number of what I get in fixed income is wrong (way off).

  6. Eruption from Fissure 17, 18, 20 and 22 is still going strong. Its excpected that the lava flow may hit the Red Road (highway 137) and the Pacific tonight or tomorrow Hawaiian time.

    Helicopter flyover on May 19th.

    Current live stream.

  7. Wojtek says:

Please check those videos from a local resident of Leilani Estates. Basically he has a volcano in his backyard…

  8. For anyone that donates directly with a bank transfer. Please update your details. I have updated the information on the donation website.

The donation website can be found here,

  9. Stefan says:

Amazing eruption on Hawaii. Reminds me of Holurhaun eruption, similar start, style, intensity. The lava fountains are huge, once there have been some people in the foreground for comparison. This might intensify and last quite for a long time.
