If you want to support me and my work with donations on this website and my other geology websites you can easily do so. Support with donation is important to me and the work that I do here. For one off donations please use the Paypal button here to the right. Donations allow me to keep monitoring and writing about volcanoes in Iceland, along with earthquake activity and other geological events that happen in Iceland.

For people that don’t want to use Paypal or can’t. Please use the bank information below, please consult your bank for more information on how to use the SWIFT/BIC bank system and possible costs (this service is not free). Using Paypal or bank transfer are both safe options for supporting my work.

If you are located in United States or Canada using PayPal is the only option since U.S and Canadian banks don’t support SWIFT/BIC system for their customers (last I checked).

Bank information

Bank donations take 1 – 20 days until they reach my bank account. If you are located in the EU please use SEPA, that only takes one day to transfer donations. SWIFT transfers can take up to 20 days to transfer to me.

Supported currencies

It is possible to make a donation in following currencies with PayPal. This also applies to bank transfers, but SEPA is only for the Euro. SWIFT is for any other currency.

PayPal fees

Paypal takes 4€ fee for each transfer to Iceland since it is to a card. Since it is not possible to transfer to a bank account. This is on top of normal fees that paypal takes. An example is that if I get a donation of 100€ what I get is 95,25€ and then there is a 4€ transfer fee to a card in Iceland.

  2. Hi Jon,

I’m silently following your blog since months….
I went in Iceland for the 5th time this summer, (the day after Mulakvisl bridge was over). I went to some places i didn’t knew or i never sawn under clear weather since now. I discovered always those amazing lanscapes with so much pleasure : Maelifell, Basar, Thakgill, Oeferufoss and so on.
I donate today ’cause i think your geophones help us to understand what’s happening in Iceland.
You’re doing a very job on your blog, i find it very interseting : i find there a lot of clever people talking about volcanoes and many rare pdf documents to read.
One last thing : do you know its because of Heymaey eruption, when i was a child i became interested in volcanoes ,

Best regards from France (near Auvergne volcanoes…)

  3. Sæll Jón og til hamingju með árafmælið.
Þú mátt gjarnan senda mér reikningsnúmerið þitt þer á landi svo ég geti notað heimabankann.

  4. Hello Jon,
i want to donate directly, but they say the swift is not correct or to short? Can you help?

  5. Happily subscribing Jon as I feel that you have been contributing so much over the past year or so, I just love your blog …thanks though to Carl, Lurking, Diana, Geoloco, Karen, Peter and so many others for there contributions for without them this blog wouldnt be the same…..

    1. I do have an postal address now in Denmark. Please contact me with an email. But transferring donations to me with your bank is far more safer then any transfer of money via the post.

  6. Hi Jon – I follow your blog because I once visited Iceland and I am fascinated by volcanos. I find it very interesting. I would like to donate but I cannot afford to donate every month. Can you set up for occasional donations where the donor decides the amount?
